RETREAT WITH US

NURTURE RETREAT SPRING 2024

WORKSHOP 1 – IN FULL BLOOM

Facilitated by: Rachel Kelly (she/her) of Make Lemonade

Found at: @makelemonadeco

Working with: Fresh and foraged florals and a little bit of magic!

From hauling tonnes of greens for milestone celebrations, scaling 15ft ladders to craft hanging installs for brand launches, to wrapping bouquets for your kitchen table, Rachel embraces every moment of making flower magic.

Together, we explored the life-affirming joy of creating floral arrangements and reaching towards our biggest, brightest dreams.

WORKSHOP 2 – PLEASED AS PUNCH

Facilitated by: Robin Fitzsimons of Fitzy Design

Found at: @fitzydesign

Working with: Ethically sourced leather & scrap leather

Robin designs a line of useful and beautiful handmade leather accessories. As a one-woman micro business she does ALL THE THINGS, and she wouldn’t have it any other way.”

Together, we explored themes of adornment, achievement and choosing items and ideas that not only stand the test of time, but get better with it.

WORKSHOP 3 – YOU EAT WHAT YOU ARE

Facilitated by: Sonja Seiler, Food Storyteller & founder of Nurture

Found at: @nurtureretreats & nurtureretreats.com

Working with: Mini cakes, icing, edible flowers, natural pigments, flavour essences & memory

Aside from her calling of ‘feeding people who create’, Sonja is equally passionate about finding ways to reimagine what’s in the fridge and pantry as a creative act and setting up kitchen spaces so they intentionally support the rhythms of daily life. To her, a recipe is a story as much as it is the method to bring food to one’s table.

Together, we explored using natural botanicals to adorn and flavour small cakes that tell our stories. Ultimately, these cakes were a ‘love letter to the season we’re in’.

GUEST PHOTOGRAPHER – JENNY JAY

Captured by: Jenny Jay of The Double Jay Collective Inc.

Found at: @justaskjenny

Working with: Digital photography & inspiration

As a storyteller and creator, all of Jenny’s education over the last 6 years has become integral to the content that she writes, creates, and shares. Add that to her lived experiences as a South Asian woman with experiences with in/visible disability, living unhoused and without financial security, and existing in her other identities, she recognizes the difference it makes when stories are shared in a way that recognize you and validate your experiences.

Together, she truly believes we can make spaces — online, in our media, in our conversations, and in our businesses, that are spaces for change. Because now more than ever, this is important.
